Dr Karl Stainer

Qualifications: MBChB (1988), DRCOG (1990), JCC (Cert, 1990), DCH (1991), MRCGP (1992)

Background

Graduated from Bristol in 1988. Dr Stainer has been working with GP Care since 2006 and is the Clinical Lead for the Minor Surgery Service. Dr Stainer is a member of The Association of Surgeons in Primary Care. He is trained in Dermoscopy for skin lesion diagnosis and has over 25 years experience of performing local anaesthetic skin surgery including complex cases. He performs non scalpel vasectomies in Bristol for the NHS and works for the Dr Newmans clinic offering private treatment for threadveins.

Katia Chapman

Qualifications: DRCOG (2001), MRCGP (2002), DFFP(2002) 

Background

Dr Chapman has been working with GP Care since 2020. Dr Chapman has a specialist interest in Minor Surgical procedures and is a GP partner at Fallodon Way medical practice. She continues to work as a GP alongside her surgical interests.  

Dr Emmy Babor

Qualifications: MB ChB(1996), BMSc (Hons,1993), DCH(1999), DRCOG(2000),  DFFP(2001), MRCGP(2003), DPD(2003)

Background

Dr Babor has been working with GP Care since 2009. Dr Babor has a special interest in dermatology and minor surgery including complex cases. She has had several secondary care dermatology posts over the past 20 years and gained Diploma of Practical dermatology in 2003. She is a member of Primary Care Dermatology Society (2001). 

Dr Luke Koupparis

Qualifications: BSc, MBBS, MRCGP, DFFP, Minor surgery accreditation Severn Faculty.

Background

Dr Koupparis has been working with GP Care since 2020 Dr Koupparis has a specialist interest in performing minor surgical procedures and joint injections and is the lead for the practice. He is the senior partner at Westbury on Trym Primary Care centre and continues to work as a GP alongside his surgical interests.

Dr Jon Shufflebotham

Qualifications: MRCGP(2011), MRCP(UK 2002), MBChB (1996)

Background

Dr Shufflebotham qualified at Leeds university in 1996. He then worked in a variety of hospital positions including spending several years specialising in gastroenterology and endoscopy. He decided to train as a GP an initially joined Westbury On Trym as a Registrar and then continued as an Associate GP. He returned to the Practice as a GP Partner in 2014. 

As well as enjoying General Practice he continues to work as an endoscopist. His other interests include gastroenterology, men’s health, diabetes, musculoskeletal medicine and joint injections.

Dr Jonathan Burrows

Qualifications: MBBS, MRCS, MRCGP, MBCAM, DOHNS

Background

Graduated from London in 1996. Dr Burrows has been working with GP Care since 2019 and has a special interest in minor surgery, working in plastic surgery and ENT. He has also trained in Aesthetic medicine.

Dr Javier Montero

Background

Working with GP Care since 2017. Dr Montero qualified as a doctor in Spain and has been working in Bristol since 2005 following GP training in Warwickshire. He has a special interest in dermatology and minor surgery with expertise in large cysts / lipomas including complex cases.

Qualifications: Diploma in Practical Dermatology (2011), MRCGP(2008),Diploma in Wound Healing (2007), MRCS (2004), BM BS (2000) BMedSci(1998) 

Background

Dr Johns has been working with GP Care since 2017. Dr Johns has a special interest in Minor surgery, Dermatology and continues to work as a GP partner alongside her surgical interests. She is clinical lead in veteran health.

Mr Amos Jakachira

Background

Working with GP Care since 2022. Mr Amos Jakachira has substantial NHS experience in nursing, at an advanced clinical level to promote patient pathways across the general Dermatology service. He is an advanced Nurse Specialist Lead in Dermatology and Currently Manages caseloads of patients in Nurse Led Clinics (Surgical /Biologics/Systemic/2WW cancer lesion clinics) Skin lesion diagnosis and treatment at The Hillingdon Hospital NHS Trust.  

Dr Charlotte Walker

Qualifications: MBBCh (Hons 2011), BSc (2009), PGDipClinDerm (2019), DFSRH (2018), MRCGP (2018)

Background

Dr Charlotte Walker has been working with GP Care since 2024. She has a passion for dermatology and skin surgery was sparked during her SHO dermatology post at Gloucestershire Hospitals in 2014 where she was trained in diagnosis and skin surgery by consultant dermatologists. Charlotte am now a GP Partner at a CQC-rated Outstanding practice.

She has been regularly performing minor skin surgery in her own practice since 2022. She is competent in dermoscopy, skin photography and lesion diagnosis, as well as local anaesthesia of the skin, shave excisions, cautery, ellipse excisions of lesions, and subcuticular and skin suturing. Charlotte is also trained in sebaceous cyst and lipoma removal. Charlotte audits all of her procedures and is committed to rigorous clinical governance surrounding surgery including written informed consent. 

Her Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Dermatology and commitment to ongoing learning support her delivery of safe skin surgery for patients.

Eyelid Cyst Removal

A Chalazion (or Meibomian) cyst is a fluid filled sac in the upper or lower eyelid, usually caused by the blockage of a meibomian gland.
