Successful tender bid to continue providing Community Urology Service across Gloucestershire

We are delighted to announce that GP Care has been successful in winning the recent tender to provide the Community Urology Service across Gloucestershire. GP Care has worked closely with Gloucestershire CCG, Shire Health, Gloucestershire Hospitals Foundation NHS Trust and local GPs to develop community urology services in the county and has been running a pilot community urology service since 2015. We are very pleased that the pilot service has proven to be a worthwhile endeavour.

We expect a seamless transition to the new contract which commences on 1st October 2018 as we will continue deliver consultant led “one stop” assessment and diagnostic clinics within the community for routine patients (aged 18 and over) with common urological conditions.

We will be providing a new urology Advice & Guidance service whereby GPs can access advice and guidance directly from our team of Consultants prior to referral. This will be set up on E Referral so it is easily accessible to GPs. GP Care will also provide an enhanced referral management service to ensure patient referrals are directed to the most appropriate specialist first time and delays in patient pathways reduced. As part of this our Consultants will provide management plans to GPs where patients can be managed safely in primary care, thereby reducing pressure on secondary care services.
