Welcome to GP Care’s newest board member, Mike Bishop

In January 2018, GP Care’s board of directors expanded! Mike Bishop has joined GP Care as our new Finance Non-Executive Director. With a strong background in financial assurance and audit, as well as more recently a large network of partnerships, Mike will play an important role in advising the board on financial matters and overseeing financial governance. In his new role he will work alongside Andrew Manning, Executive Chair, the other three non-executive directors as well as Annie Kelly, Clinical Director.

Mike told us about himself:

“I have spent over 35 years in the audit profession, working with Boards of companies of all sizes to help them understand the financial aspects of their decision making. More recently, I have been working in an International context, helping to shape and execute strategy for an accounting network within Europe, Middle East and Africa. What I have learned is that most things are possible if issues are well thought through and if you take people with you.

I was the appointed auditor to a number of organisations in the NHS in the mid 1990’s and whilst the organisational structure of the NHS has changed, many of its key issues are very familiar!

I was attracted to GP Care because its core values are very much aligned with my own – integrity, openness, honesty and passion to do the right thing, whether that is for the business, for the individuals within it, or for those with whom it interacts.

I very much look forward to providing challenge, insight and support both to the Board and the wider GP Care community.”

Executive Chair, Andrew Manning, also commented saying:

“We are very pleased to welcome someone of Mike’s experience and expertise to GP Care. He will strengthen our Board and help us move successfully into the next 10 years of our existence.”
