GP Care Wins National Anticoagulation Achievement Award for Best Comprehensive Thrombosis Management Centre!

On 11th October 2017, five members of our Bristol based DVT team went to the House of Commons for the National Anticoagulation Achievement Awards 2017, and we won!

The award for best comprehensive thrombosis management centre recognises the fact our service provides patients with an effective and expert DVT service from the initial GP referral of suspected DVT to diagnosis, treatment and excellent aftercare, and we couldn’t be prouder of our achievement!

Annie Kelly, Clinical Director at GP Care said ‘We are really delighted to receive this award in recognition for the comprehensive community DVT service we provide to patients in Bristol and South Gloucestershire. We have a fantastic team of GPs and practice nurses at our 4 specialist treatment centres who work with our Specialist Nursing and sonography team to provide a truly patient centred service that has shifted care out of hospital whilst ensuring we maintain the necessary links and partnership working with the acute sector.  There are also staff behind the scenes in admin and operations who do a great job ensuring the service is coordinated and runs effectively so this award recognises the efforts of the whole team.’

Our community DVT service provides patients with diagnosis and treatment for the condition as well as support from our specialist anticoagulation Nurse, Louise Hill, who runs the only DVT support group in the South West! The service has been running in Bristol and South Gloucestershire since 2009.
